The classic corner-snap tray, cut heavy at 2.5 mm so the walls stand without any stiffener inside them. Solid brass studs, set by hand. Unsnap it and it goes back to being a flat square, which is how it travels and how it stores.

Limits and behaviour

• Heat and moisture. Water-repellent only for as long as it takes to wipe a splash away. Keep hot items and standing water off it; this is not a trivet and makes no insulating claim.
• Colour transfer. A dark hide can mark a pale surface when warm or damp. Test a small hidden area first.
• Natural variation. Grain, tone and healed marks differ between hides and the burnished edge is darker than the face. This is the material, not a fault.
• Sensitive skin. Tanning agents can cause contact allergy in individual cases. We make no claim that this piece is allergen-free.

Care

Dust with a dry cloth and keep the form filled when not in use so the walls hold their line. Wipe spills immediately, dry flat and away from heat. Balm once or twice a year.
