Buying a mat that is a few centimetres too wide is the single most common reason a desk piece goes back. So measure once, here, before anything is cut or shipped.

How to measure
- 01
Measure the usable top, not the frame. If the desk has a lip, a rail or a cable tray at the back, measure to where the flat surface actually ends.
- 02
Round down, never up. A mat cut to a rounded-up figure is the one that overhangs.
- 03
Allow for what already lives on the desk. A monitor foot or a lamp base sits on top of the mat, so it does not change the size you need — but a drawer unit under the near edge might.
- 04
Remember the tolerance: every piece is hand-cut to ±3 mm.
