Two internal slip pockets take a standard A5 softcover at either end. Thinner hide than the desk pieces at 1.6 mm so it closes flat rather than springing open. Refill inserts are plain cream paper, unbranded.

Limits and behaviour

• Heat and moisture. Water-repellent only for as long as it takes to wipe a splash away. Keep hot items and standing water off it; this is not a trivet and makes no insulating claim.
• Colour transfer. A dark hide can mark a pale surface when warm or damp. Test a small hidden area first.
• Natural variation. Grain, tone and healed marks differ between hides and the burnished edge is darker than the face. This is the material, not a fault.
• Sensitive skin. Tanning agents can cause contact allergy in individual cases. We make no claim that this piece is allergen-free.

Care

Dust with a dry cloth. Wipe spills off immediately and let the piece dry flat, away from any heat source. Treat with a colourless leather balm once or twice a year.
