Cut from a single full-grain panel, so the grain runs uninterrupted from edge to edge. The edges are bevelled and burnished by hand in three passes, which is why they darken to a deeper cognac than the face. Colour and grain vary between hides — that variation is the material, not a defect.

Limits and behaviour

Heat and moisture. Water-repellent only for as long as it takes to wipe a splash away. Keep hot items and standing water off it; this is not a trivet and makes no insulating claim.
Colour transfer. A dark hide can mark a pale surface when warm or damp. Test a small hidden area first.
Natural variation. Grain, tone and healed marks differ between hides and the burnished edge is darker than the face. This is the material, not a fault.
Sensitive skin. Tanning agents can cause contact allergy in individual cases. We make no claim that this piece is allergen-free.

Care

Dust with a dry cloth. Wipe spills off immediately and let the piece dry flat, away from any heat source. Treat with a colourless leather balm once or twice a year.
